The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that the LA 480 bridge over Boggy Lake in Red River Parish will be closed for three days starting Monday, October 13, 2025. The closure is necessary for DOTD crews to carry out repairs on the bridge’s pilings to keep the structure safe for community use.

The bridge is located about 4.8 miles south of Coushatta. During this period, all vehicles must use alternate routes as total road closure will be enforced at the site. Detour signage will be set up to guide motorists.

DOTD stated, “DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.” The department also advises area residents to exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near active construction zones.

Work on the bridge is scheduled to take place weather permitting. For further travel information, drivers can call 511, visit www.511la.org, or download the Louisiana 511 mobile app. Out-of-state travelers may call 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511). Updates are also available on the LA DOTD website by selecting MyDOTD or by visiting DOTD’s Facebook and X (Twitter) pages.
