A Kenner woman has been sentenced for distributing fentanyl in the Eastern District of Louisiana. Shawna Martin, 56, received a sentence of 46 months in prison, four years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $300 mandatory special assessment fee after pleading guilty to charges related to fentanyl distribution.
According to court documents, the Drug Enforcement Administration began investigating Martin’s activities in late 2023. The investigation revealed that she distributed more than 40 grams of fentanyl pills within the district. On two occasions—August 24 and September 6, 2023—Martin sold a total of nearly 98 grams of fentanyl to an individual she believed was a legitimate buyer. Later, on September 20, she possessed with intent to distribute approximately 115 grams of fentanyl.
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman from the Narcotics Unit.
