The Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women has provided a total of $353,303 in grant funding to two Louisiana organizations. Acting U.S. Attorney Ellison C. Travis announced the awards, which were given to the Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault, Inc. and the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Inc.

The Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault, Inc. received $243,213. The organization will use these funds to work with local sexual assault programs and other direct service providers to encourage appropriate responses to sexual assault within the state or territory. Additional efforts include working with judicial or law enforcement agencies on sexual assault cases, collaborating with courts and child protective services regarding child custody and visitation issues where sexual assault is a factor, designing public education campaigns, planning and monitoring grant distribution, and informing public officials about policies aimed at reducing or eliminating sexual assault.

The Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Inc. was awarded $110,090. This funding will support the coordination of state and territory victim services activities as well as collaboration with federal, state, territory, and local entities involved in violence against women initiatives.
