Jahbrell Price, a 25-year-old resident of Marrero, Louisiana, was sentenced on December 4, 2025, after pleading guilty to two federal charges. U.S. District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown handed down the sentence in New Orleans.
Price faced two counts: possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and possession of a machine gun. The first count involved violating Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(3), while the second count related to Title 18 United States Code, Sections 922(o) and 924(a)(2).
He received a total prison term of 33 months—12 months for the drug charge and 33 months for the firearms offense—with both sentences to run concurrently. In addition, Price was ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay a $125 mandatory special assessment fee.
According to court documents, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Price at a motel on Westbank Expressway in Marrero on January 7, 2024. He was wanted on an outstanding Orleans Parish warrant. A search of his hotel room led officers to discover twenty bottles of promethazine totaling over nine liters, $1,375 in cash, and a Glock model 45 handgun equipped with an external machine gun conversion device.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local communities. The Department of Justice updated its violent crime reduction strategy for PSN in May 2021 to focus on building community trust, supporting prevention organizations, setting targeted enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms for its work on this case. Assistant United States Attorney Mary Katherine Kaufman from the General Crimes Unit prosecuted the matter.
