The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that the Interstate 10 westbound on-ramp at Sampson Street in Calcasieu Parish will be closed from 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, until 5 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025. The temporary access road to the ramp from the South Service Road will also be inaccessible during this period.

According to DOTD, the closure is required so crews can re-install a protective bridge warning structure on the access road. The work schedule may change depending on weather conditions.

During the closure, motorists are advised to use alternative routes. Drivers can take the I-10 eastbound on-ramp, cross the Calcasieu River Bridge, exit at Lakeshore Drive, loop to North Lakeshore Drive, and then use the I-10 westbound on-ramp. Detour signs have been placed along these routes.

“DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.” DOTD also encourages area residents to exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near active construction zones.

For more information about road closures and traffic updates in Louisiana, drivers can call 511 or visit www.511la.org. There is also a Louisiana 511 mobile app available for download.
