Olger Rene Maldonado-Santos, a 29-year-old citizen of Honduras, has been sentenced for illegal reentry into the United States. The sentencing took place on September 9, 2025, according to an announcement by Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson.
Court records indicate that Maldonado-Santos reentered the country prior to May 17, 2025, after being previously removed around February 14, 2018. U.S. District Judge Wendy B. Vitter ordered that Maldonado-Santos be remanded into the custody of the United States Marshals and granted him credit for time served along with one year of supervised release.
Upon completion of his imprisonment term, Maldonado-Santos will be transferred to United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings as specified under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson commended the efforts of the United States Bureau of Customs and Border Protection in investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Irene González from the General Crimes Unit is overseeing the prosecution.
