A Honduran national, Abraham Ramirez-Cantor, has pleaded guilty to the charge of illegal re-entry after being previously removed from the United States. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson.
Court documents state that Ramirez-Cantor, 40, was deported from the U.S. on November 21, 2005. He was later located in the Eastern District of Louisiana on April 3, 2025. Authorities confirmed that he had not obtained permission from either the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security to return to the country.
United States District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo accepted Ramirez-Cantor’s guilty plea and sentenced him to time served.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson acknowledged Immigration and Customs Enforcement for its role in investigating the case. Assistant United States Attorney Duane A. Evans is leading the prosecution.
“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”
