A Honduran national, Darwin Xavier Gonzalez-Munoz, has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for illegal re-entry into the United States after having previously been deported. The sentencing took place on July 23, 2025, before United States District Judge Lance M. Africk in New Orleans.

Gonzalez-Munoz, 30, had pleaded guilty to violating Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a), which concerns the illegal re-entry of a removed alien. According to court records, he returned to the U.S. after being deported on or about June 24, 2024.

This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice that focuses resources on addressing illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The operation also aims to enhance community safety by targeting violent crime perpetrators.
