A Honduran national, Marlon Santos, 36, was sentenced on November 19, 2025, for reentering the United States after being previously removed. According to court documents, Santos was found in Orleans Parish on April 21, 2025. He had earlier been deported to Honduras on December 21, 2018.

United States District Judge Lance M. Africk sentenced Santos to two years in prison and one year of supervised release for violating Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson commended the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for its role in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Spiro G. Latsis oversaw the prosecution.
