Governor Jeff Landry has declared a State of Emergency ahead of winter weather expected to impact Louisiana over the weekend. The declaration comes as the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for much of the state, beginning Friday, January 23.
The forecasted storm could bring ice, which may result in dangerous travel conditions, prolonged power outages, and interruptions to essential services. By declaring a State of Emergency, Governor Landry is enabling the activation of Louisiana’s emergency response and recovery program. This action allows state resources to assist with operational measures at the parish level.
