Following a severe winter storm last week, Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry announced that both state and federal agencies are working to help families and small businesses affected by the disaster. In a statement, Gov. Landry said, “Louisiana families and small businesses were hit hard during this winter weather. We have been working side by side with President Trump, Secretary Rollins, Administrator Loeffler, SBA Regional Administrator Justin Crossie, and our Louisiana delegation to ensure help gets to the people who need it most here in Louisiana.”
Small businesses in 19 parishes across northeast Louisiana can now apply for disaster loans through the Small Business Administration (SBA). The application process is available at lending.sba.gov, with a submission deadline of November 2. The affected area stretches from West Carroll Parish south to Concordia Parish and west to Bossier and Caddo parishes.
For those receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in Caldwell, DeSoto, East Carroll, Jackson, Ouachita, Red River, Richland, and West Carroll Parishes, an additional 20 percent of January benefits will be provided automatically. This measure supports about 51,500 individuals. The extra funds will be added directly to recipients’ EBT cards by February 11.
Governor Landry’s administration has previously secured over $50 billion in investments through tax cuts and economic policies aimed at supporting growth across the state (official website). His leadership focuses on promoting economic development and public safety through various policy initiatives (official website). As part of the state’s government structure (official website), his operations impact regions throughout Louisiana—from New Orleans to Baton Rouge (official website).
