Rachel Watts Sanders, a 39-year-old resident of Loranger, Louisiana, was sentenced to five years of probation on August 28, 2025. The sentencing was announced by Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson. Sanders had previously pleaded guilty to wire fraud and mail theft.

Court documents show that while employed as a Postal Highway Contract Route contractor in Franklinton, Louisiana, Sanders stole more than forty checks from the mail. She then forged endorsements on these checks and deposited them into her own bank account. The total losses amounted to $22,717.66.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General. Assistant United States Attorney Christine Calogero of the General Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution.

“The determination of restitution will be held at a later date,” according to the announcement.
