FOIA Request to Southern University at New Orleans regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

Pelican State News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Southern University at New Orleans seeking detailed records of employee compensation for the Fiscal Year 2024. The request, sent under the Louisiana Public Records Act § 44:1 et seq., asks for information in an electronic format and aims to enhance transparency regarding university salaries.

The request specifically seeks records that include various data fields such as the fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth (if not exempt), date of birth (if not exempt or limited to month/year), employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time). Pelican State News acknowledges that not all fields may be present in every record but requests that all responsive records be produced regardless.

In cases where portions of a record are deemed exempt from disclosure, Pelican State News has requested that non-exempt portions be released in redacted form rather than withheld entirely. The media organization also seeks a fee waiver due to its role in gathering and reporting news to the public.
