FOIA Request to Louisiana Tech University regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

Pelican State News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Louisiana Tech University seeking detailed records of employee compensation for the fiscal year 2024. The request was made under the Louisiana Public Records Act § 44:1 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.

The requested records include comprehensive data on all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. The media organization is interested in obtaining information such as fiscal year details, employee names, genders, ages or birth years, and birth dates if not exempt. Additionally, they seek employer names, employee titles or positions, departments, hire dates, compensation amounts including base pay and any additional pay, compensation types (e.g., salary, hourly), and employment types (full-time or part-time).

Pelican State News has acknowledged that not all fields may be present in every record but requests that all responsive records be produced regardless of completeness. If any portion of a record is deemed exempt from disclosure, they have asked for non-exempt portions to be released in redacted form rather than withheld entirely.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, Pelican State News has also requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request. They argue that access to these public records is essential for their role in gathering and reporting news to the public.

The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this coalition can be found at https://stopsecrecy.org/about/.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
