U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) has released a video statement marking the launch of the $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program, which is included in President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts legislation. The program aims to improve access to health care for patients in rural communities across Louisiana and the nation.

“The single largest of its kind, the Rural Health Transformation Fund, has officially launched and will benefit folks in rural Louisiana and across the country,” said Dr. Cassidy.

“Republicans’ economic agenda didn’t just lower taxes, it’s lowering barriers to care as well,” continued Dr. Cassidy.

In his video message, Senator Cassidy emphasized that families in rural areas such as Cameron Parish, Washington Parish, Vernon Parish, and Tensas face significant challenges including longer travel times to see doctors, higher rates of chronic disease, and poorer health outcomes. He noted his own experience as a doctor serving patients from rural areas and witnessing these issues firsthand.

Senator Cassidy stated that Republicans are working with the Trump administration to deliver solutions through this new fund by expanding access to lifesaving care closer to home. The initiative is designed to provide rural hospitals with resources needed to remain open, hire additional medical staff, serve more patients, and invest in telehealth transportation and community-based care tailored for rural populations.

He added: “Because quality care shouldn’t depend on your address.”

Cassidy also thanked Dr. Oz and President Trump for their collaboration with Senate Republicans on this effort. He concluded by saying: “Republicans’ economic agenda didn’t just lower taxes, it is lowering barriers to receiving quality health care to all Americans. Just another way we are making rural America healthy again.”
