U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy visited Livingston Parish on Wednesday, meeting with small business owners and discussing job creation efforts in the region. During his visit, Cassidy participated in an announcement by Pipe and Steel Industrial regarding a new fabrication facility in Denham Springs. Company President Kylie Sparks and Vice President Leon Badeaux were present at the event.
“Kylie Sparks came from modest means,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Thanks to hard work and determination, he now has a large family and employs hundreds of people. He proves that anything is possible in Louisiana.”
Pipe and Steel Industrial specializes in providing pipe and steel fabrication services for industrial clients such as power, chemical, and fertilizer plants. The company currently employs over 250 people, with the new facility expected to add another 15-20 jobs.
“We at Pipe and Steel Industrial are proud to be creating new jobs in Livingston Parish, and expanding our local, privately owned business that has been a vital part of our community for decades,” said Mr. Badeaux. “We appreciate Senator Cassidy joining us today, to celebrate this achievement. This is good for our community, and the entire state of Louisiana.”
Cassidy also spoke at the State of the Parish luncheon hosted by the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce. He highlighted local business achievements and discussed opportunities linked to his Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
“Leaders in Livingston Parish want to meet the needs of their growing community,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Thanks to money from my infrastructure bill, they’re doing that by building new roads and reducing risk of flooding. They’re showing what’s possible for all of Louisiana.”
Through the IIJA, Cassidy has helped secure millions of dollars for infrastructure projects in Livingston Parish, including more than $11.8 million allocated last September for elevating homes vulnerable to flooding. He is also working toward funding the Browns Road Improvement Project with $5 million included in current Senate appropriations legislation.
Additionally, Cassidy supported President Trump’s One, Big, Beautiful Bill which allows businesses permanent full-cost deductions on certain investments like equipment purchases, provides a 20% Qualified Business Income deduction for various business structures, makes permanent both the Opportunity Zones program and New Markets Tax Credit, and eliminates taxes on tips and overtime pay for most workers.
Livingston Parish President Randy Delatte delivered a State of the Parish Address during the luncheon event and expressed appreciation for Cassidy’s ongoing support.
“I am so happy that Senator Cassidy was here today to join us at our State of the Parish address. Also met him this morning again at one of our announcements where they were doing expansion of a pipe and steel business. In addition to that, Cassidy is no stranger to Livingston Parish. He made the inauguration of the Livingston Parish President and all the council members. And that inauguration was held the same day the governor had his. There is only one senator that has been in Livingston Parish time and time again, and that’s been Cassidy,” said President Delatte.
