U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy announced on April 8 that Louisiana airports will receive $2,550,111 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funds are designated for upgrades including weather equipment, pavement markings, perimeter fencing, apron construction, runway lighting, and planning updates at airports across the state.
The funding aims to enhance safety and service at Louisiana’s airports. Improvements such as updated lighting and new equipment are intended to help facilities better serve travelers and local communities.
“When you fly into a town, the airport is the first impression,” said Dr. Cassidy. “These improvements help Louisiana airports stay safe, updated, and ready to serve the people who depend on them.”
Cassidy serves as chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and is also a member of the Finance, Energy and Natural Resources, and Veterans Affairs Committees according to his official website. He has focused efforts on reducing health care costs and improving mental health systems according to his official website.
In addition to his legislative work on infrastructure and health care policy reform as reported by his official website, Cassidy co-founded the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic to deliver free health services for those without insurance coverage according to his official website. He earned both undergraduate and medical degrees from Louisiana State University according to his official website.
Cassidy said these latest investments will help ensure that airports remain an asset for communities across Louisiana.
