The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources will receive more than $2.1 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration (PHMSA) to enhance natural gas pipeline safety in the state. The funding is intended for personnel, equipment, and activities that support inspections and safety improvements.
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced the award, noting its connection to broader federal infrastructure investments. “Combined with investments from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, these funds help ensure Louisiana’s pipelines are safe, reliable, and properly maintained. Louisiana fuels the world with our LNG. Let’s do it in the safest way possible,” said Dr. Cassidy.
The grant aims to help Louisiana maintain its role as a key energy supplier while prioritizing public safety through improved oversight and maintenance of its pipeline network.
