A California resident has pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the theft and interstate transportation of stolen property from a business in Metairie, Louisiana. According to Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson, DeAnthony Blocker entered a guilty plea on August 27, 2025, to two counts: conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen goods and interstate transportation of stolen goods.
The indictment stated that Blocker and others conspired to transport cigarettes stolen during a burglary at a Louisiana warehouse facility on November 21, 2024. The group left the state and was apprehended in Fort Stockton, Texas the next day while still in possession of the stolen cigarettes. Authorities also linked the group to similar burglaries in North Carolina and Texas earlier in February 2024.
Blocker faces up to ten years imprisonment, fines up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and mandatory special assessment fees for each count.
Acting U.S. Attorney Simpson recognized the investigative efforts of several agencies involved: “the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Knightdale Police Department, Atlanta Police Department, Rockmart Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Fort Stockton Police Department.” Assistant United States Attorney Paul J. Hubbell is prosecuting the case.
