The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on May 21 the arrest of a 16-year-old juvenile in connection with a second degree battery incident that occurred in the Pierre Part area.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched on May 12 to a local healthcare facility where an individual was being treated for injuries. The victim reported being attacked by a juvenile and sustained significant injuries as a result. She was later transferred to a hospital in Baton Rouge for further treatment.

Deputies continued their investigation by interviewing witnesses and were able to identify the suspect as a 16-year-old. On May 21, deputies executed the verified complaint and took the juvenile into custody. The individual was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on one charge of second degree battery.

The sheriff’s office said that the juvenile has been ordered held in a juvenile facility pending further proceedings.
